Jamie Rhee named Woman of the Year by Italian American Executives of Transportation

The Italian American Executives of Transportation (IAET) celebrated leaders in aviation, including Chicago Department of Aviation Commissioner Jamie Rhee, at their Annual Awards Dinner and Celebration on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Ashton Place in Willowbrook.

Rhee was recognized as the 2024 Woman of the Year, and was honored for her leadership and contributions to the aviation industry, according to a post about the event. Rhee works as a commissioner for the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA), helping to run the city’s airports and transportation infrastructure.

In addition to Rhee's recognition, the event also honored Sergio Serritella as the 2024 Humanitarian of the Year for his charitable efforts and dedication to making a difference in the community.

As Commissioner, Rhee oversees O’Hare and Midway Airports. With over 30 years of public service, she has held various roles, including General Counsel for the O’Hare Modernization Program. As CDA Commissioner, Rhee led significant airport projects, including the $1.3 billion expansion of O’Hare's Terminal 5 and the Midway Modernization Program.

She also serves on multiple aviation boards and has helped develop a Code of Conduct for the airport community. She holds degrees from Michigan State University and DePaul University.

The IAET Awards Dinner is an annual event with an evening of entertainment, featuring a bar and buffet for guests. The Italian American Executives of Transportation (IAET) was founded on May 12, 1965, originally for individuals of Italian-American descent working in transportation. Membership is now open to anyone of Italian-American heritage or those deemed valuable to the organization by the Executive Board.
