American Airlines AAdvantage elite members can now access new benefits when flying with Aer Lingus. This development builds on the mileage earning agreement established in December 2023 between American Airlines and Dublin-based Aer Lingus. The latest enhancements cater to elite members of both airlines, providing additional perks for travelers.

AAdvantage Gold members are entitled to a 40% bonus miles, priority check-in, and priority boarding when flying with Aer Lingus. Platinum members receive a 60% bonus miles, fast-track security, lounge access with one guest, and an extra checked bag in economy class. Platinum Pro members enjoy an 80% bonus miles along with similar benefits as Platinum members but with the added perk of an extra checked bag across all classes. Executive Platinum members benefit from a 120% bonus miles and similar privileges as other tiers.

Aer Lingus is part of the International Airlines Group alongside Oneworld partners British Airways and Iberia. From December 2, 2024, AerClub elite members will also gain new advantages when traveling with British Airways.

Zach Griff from The Points Guy reports that Aer Lingus operates lounges at Dublin Airport (DUB), London's Heathrow Airport (LHR), and New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). Eligible passengers can also access American Airlines Flagship Lounges and Admirals Clubs at U.S. locations during their travels on Aer Lingus-operated flights.

The announcement coincides with recent expansions in Aer Lingus' U.S. route network following the acquisition of Airbus A321XLR aircraft. Starting April 12, 2025, the airline will offer nonstop service from Nashville International Airport (BNA) to DUB four times weekly and from Indianapolis International Airport (IND) beginning May 3, 2025.

Currently, AAdvantage miles cannot be redeemed for award travel on Aer Lingus flights; however, this feature is expected to be available soon according to American's website.

"While the benefits of this airline partnership for travelers have been slow to materialize," says Zach Griff/The Points Guy "it is great to see that elite members of American Airlines' AAdvantage program can now enjoy various travel perks when flying Aer Lingus."
