Star Alliance has opened its first branded lounge in Asia at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. Located on the upper level of the existing GBIA lounge in Terminal 1, the lounge offers exclusive access to Star Alliance member airline guests. The facility spans 750 square meters and can accommodate up to 100 guests. It is open around the clock to cater to travelers with varying flight schedules.

“Lounges are a critical component for the effortless travel experience we aim to provide to our member airline passengers,” stated Star Alliance CEO Theo Panagiotoulias. He emphasized Guangzhou's importance as a strategic hub in Asia and expressed excitement about inaugurating their first lounge on the continent.

Ambar Franco, Vice President for Customer Experience at Star Alliance, highlighted that the lounge was designed with modern travelers in mind, offering comfort and functionality close to departure gates. The space includes workstations, comfortable seating areas, and a VIP room for private meetings. Guests can also use shower suites before their flights.

The lounge features local art and a Tea Appreciation Corner showcasing regional tea culture. Food options include light bites and regional cuisine, while a dedicated bar offers specially curated drinks.

i Yaoming, Deputy General Manager of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, noted that Star Alliance's choice of location signifies trust and support for Baiyun Airport as an international hub. The airport aims to continue enhancing services for Star Alliance and its member airlines.

The lounge was developed by Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport in collaboration with member airlines and is operated by Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Business Travel Service Co., Ltd. A new branded lounge is planned for Terminal 3 as Guangzhou continues to grow as a major travel hub in Asia.

Currently, ten Star Alliance member airlines operate from Guangzhou, providing 774 weekly departures to 50 destinations across ten countries.

Star Alliance was established in 1997 as the first global airline alliance. It offers an extensive network with over 17,500 daily flights to more than 1,150 airports worldwide through its member airlines.
