Following the merger between Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines, changes in flight routes are being implemented. Hawaiian Airlines will cease its non-stop flights between Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) and Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) in Honolulu by March 2025. This route, operational since 2021, has served over 230,000 passengers.
KXAN reported this development with a statement from a Hawaiian spokesperson: "As we begin the exciting work to integrate our combined networks to offer our guests more flights and connections to more cities, we are making some initial adjustments to a few routes."
The airline plans to repurpose its Airbus A330-200 aircraft used on this route as part of a network reshuffling program. Austin airport confirmed the end of this service on its official X account and assured that passengers can still fly between Austin and Honolulu through connecting flights offered by five other domestic airlines serving the airport.
