JetBlue has introduced a new livery for its Airbus A220 aircraft, named 'Hops.' This design features a violet accent color on the winglets and other parts of the fuselage. The Airbus A220-300, registered as N3241J, will showcase this latest livery and is set to begin commercial flights by the end of November.

The aircraft is nicknamed ‘Taming Of The Blue,’ and its design is described as "multidimensional, playful, and full of motion—evoking the path of our planes hopping from one BlueCity to another," according to a JetBlue spokesperson. It marks the first time JetBlue has used a violet accent color in its liveries.

The A220-300 model is becoming increasingly important for JetBlue's fleet. While the airline has deferred 44 A321neo aircraft deliveries scheduled between 2025 and 2029 to 2030 and beyond under its JetForward plan, it maintains its original delivery schedule for the A220-300. Consequently, JetBlue expects to receive 64 A220-300 aircraft during the latter half of 2024 and over the next four years, with an additional four following thereafter.

Airbus delivered an A220-300 to JetBlue on September 26 at Montréal-Mirabel International Airport (YMX), where one of two final assembly lines for the A220 family is located. The other assembly line is in Mobile, Alabama. The most recent delivery there occurred on November 14 when Breeze Airways received an A220-300.

JetBlue's latest livery has already completed its first flight. Aviation Flights Group reported that manufacturer serial number (MSN) 55315, temporarily registered as C-FOWF, embarked on its initial test flight on November 20 from Montréal-Mirabel International Airport.

JetBlue continues to refresh its aircraft designs with new liveries. On June 14, 2023, it introduced a new 'Mint Leaves' pattern for business class equivalent aircraft. Subsequent designs include 'Spotlight' in October 2023 and 'Balloons' in November 2023, with 'Hops' debuting later this month.

Jayne O’Brien, head of marketing and loyalty at JetBlue, emphasized that liveries are integral to the airline’s identity: “When you spot a JetBlue aircraft—whether on the ground or in the air—we want customers to recognize us as a travel brand that moves them differently than everyone else.”

By year-end 2024, JetBlue plans to have nine aircraft with ‘Mint Leaves’ livery while deploying 'Spotlight,' 'Balloons,' and 'Hops' across various numbers of planes.
