John Wayne Airport has released its statistics for September 2024, showing a decline in passenger numbers compared to the same month last year. The total number of passengers decreased by 9.3% from 969,619 in September 2023 to 879,703 in September 2024. Year-to-date figures also show a decrease of 6.3%, with the total number of passengers falling from 8,894,764 in 2023 to 8,334,709 in 2024.

Enplaned passengers dropped by 8.8% in September year-over-year and showed a year-to-date decline of 6.2%. Deplaned passengers saw a reduction of 9.8% for the month and a year-to-date decrease of 6.4%.

Total aircraft operations at John Wayne Airport increased by 23.6% from September last year and have risen by 16.3% for the year so far. General aviation operations surged by 38.4% for the month and are up by 27.5% on a yearly basis.

Commercial operations experienced a slight decline of 6.1% compared to September last year and are down by 2.9% for the current year-to-date period.

Military operations decreased significantly by 40% in September but have shown an increase of 7.5% over the course of the year.

Air cargo tons handled at John Wayne Airport were relatively stable with only a slight decrease of -0.9% for September compared to last year's figures, while there was a more noticeable drop of -5.9% on a yearly basis.

International passenger traffic saw decreases as well; total international passengers fell by -5.7%, both for September alone and when considering year-to-date data.
