The Prime Visa, a credit card from Amazon in partnership with Chase, is currently offering a special welcome promotion for new applicants. Those who apply and are approved will receive an instant $200 Amazon gift card. This offer comes at a strategic time, aligning with the holiday shopping season.

The Prime Visa requires no annual fee but mandates an active Prime membership, which costs $14.99 monthly or $139 annually. The card offers several cash-back benefits: 5% on purchases made at Amazon.com, Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods, and through Chase Travel℠; 2% on gas stations, restaurants (including takeout and delivery), local transit, and commuting services; and 1% on all other purchases.

Cash back is awarded as rewards points redeemable for cash back, Amazon purchases, gift cards, or travel via the Chase Travel portal. These features make it particularly attractive for frequent shoppers at Amazon and Whole Foods.

Additionally, the Prime Visa provides various purchase and travel protections such as purchase protection, extended warranty protection, auto rental coverage, roadside assistance, baggage delay insurance, lost luggage reimbursement, travel accident insurance, and travel emergency assistance.

Applicants should be aware of Chase's 5/24 rule before applying. Those near this limit may want to consider their options carefully if they are interested in other Chase cards that might offer different benefits.

While this card offers significant advantages for regular Amazon shoppers with a Prime membership due to its cash-back rates and current promotional offer of a $200 gift card upon approval—especially advantageous during the holiday season—it may not suit those who do not frequently shop at Amazon or lack a Prime membership.
