Recent developments in U.S. aviation infrastructure have seen significant funding allocated to various airports across the country. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced a fourth round of grants in late October 2024, distributing approximately $970 million among 125 airports in 46 states, Guam, and Palau. Five airports received notably large portions of this funding, each exceeding $110 million.

Tampa International Airport in Florida was the largest recipient, receiving $40 million. This funding is designated for terminal expansion, specifically "connecting Terminal D to the main terminal with an automated people mover and adding nine boarding bridges," according to the FAA.

Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas was awarded $33.2 million. These funds will contribute to constructing a new Midfield Terminal B with at least 20 new gates and a connecting tunnel set for completion by 2030.

Denver International Airport in Colorado received $15 million aimed at improving operational efficiency through reconstructing its baggage handling system.

Salt Lake City International Airport in Utah also received $15 million for its ongoing redevelopment program's fourth phase, which includes constructing new gates for Concourse B.

Lastly, Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport in Montana was granted $10 million to support its East Terminal Expansion Project (ETEP), focusing on strengthening and modernizing terminal infrastructure.

FAA Associate Administrator for Airports Shannetta R. Griffin stated that these investments aim to enhance passenger safety and comfort while creating jobs and boosting local economies.

Other notable grants included funds for replacing air traffic control towers at Peoria International Airport in Illinois and Tulsa International Airport in Oklahoma, as well as improving air conditioning efficiency at Boston Logan International's Terminal B.
