Copa Airlines, the national flag carrier of Panama, continues to expand its reach across the Americas with a robust fleet and strategic route planning. Operating since 1947, Copa Airlines has developed a strong presence with over 100 Boeing 737 aircraft and membership in Star Alliance since June 2012.

The airline's fleet includes 32 Boeing 737 MAX 9s, making it the third-largest operator of this model worldwide. The MAX 9 aircraft have two configurations: one seating 166 passengers and another seating 174. Copa Airlines is recognized for its extensive network from Tocumen International Airport in Panama City, serving over 80 destinations.

In December 2024, Copa Airlines will operate some of its longest routes using the Boeing 737 MAX 9. The fifth-longest route will connect Panama City with Florianópolis at a distance of 3,262 miles. This service was initiated in June 2024 and features flights to Hercílio Luz International Airport.

Another significant route is between Panama City and Rio de Janeiro's Galeão International Airport, spanning 3,285 miles without direct competition. Flights to Buenos Aires via Ministro Pistarini International Airport cover a distance of 3,312 miles with southbound block times around seven hours.

Panama City's link to San Francisco marks the only North American destination on this list at a distance of 3,320 miles. Finally, the longest route operated by Copa Airlines' Boeing MAX fleet is to Montevideo at General Cesáreo L. Berisso International Airport covering approximately 3,384 miles.

Copa Airlines operates additional aircraft models including nine Boeing 737-700s and one Boeing MAX-8 among others on order. Other international carriers also service Tocumen International Airport such as American Airlines from Miami and Delta Air Lines from Atlanta.
