Tecnam Aircraft, a prominent name in European general aviation manufacturing, was founded in 1986 by brothers Luigi and Giovanni Pascale. Originally established as an aircraft part supplier for large manufacturers like Boeing, the company shifted focus in the 1990s towards producing its own aircraft, starting with the Tecnam P92. Since then, Tecnam has produced over 5,000 aircraft.

The Tecnam P92 was introduced in 1993 after its maiden flight in March of that year. The aircraft is known for its strut-braced high-wing configuration and fixed landing gear. It can carry two crew members and has been widely used by flight schools and private pilots globally.

Another significant model from Tecnam is the P2006, which first flew in September 2007 and received certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in 2008. This light twin-engine aircraft stands out for its efficiency compared to traditional regional planes.

The Tecnam P2008, launched to markets such as the United States and Australia by December 2009, features composite components including a carbon fiber fuselage. It retains a high-wing configuration similar to other Tecnam models.

In 2013, Tecnam introduced the P2010 model, which accommodates up to four passengers—an increase from previous models—and incorporates composite materials like those used in the P2008. It achieved EASA certification in 2014 followed by FAA approval in late 2015.
