Delta Air Lines is set to initiate or reinstate 35 routes in December, covering nine U.S. hubs and airports, with Minneapolis seeing the most new additions. This information was obtained through an analysis of scheduled routes for December compared to November using Cirium Diio data.

Of these 35 routes, three are entirely new, nine were last operated over two years ago, and 23 are resuming after being paused earlier this year, mostly due to seasonal adjustments.

The three new routes include Boston-Liberia starting on December 21 with weekly A321neo flights; Los Angeles-Brisbane commencing on December 4 with thrice-weekly A350-900 flights; and Minneapolis-Tulum beginning on December 21 with weekly A319 flights. Delta will become the second operator on the Los Angeles-Brisbane route after Qantas.

Nine routes that have not been served for more than two years will resume operations before Christmas Day. These primarily involve winter sun destinations in Mexico and the Caribbean. Among them is New York JFK-Lagos, which will operate daily—a record frequency for this airport pair.

The remaining 23 routes were last flown earlier this year between February and May, except Atlanta-St. Kitts which was served until August. These resumptions include both domestic and international destinations such as New York JFK-Rio de Janeiro Galeão restarting on December 20 with daily Boeing 767-300ER service.

Overall, Delta's schedule adjustment aims to meet increased demand during the festive season by reintroducing popular winter travel options across various regions.
