Belgian flag carrier Brussels Airlines is set to expand its network in the coming months, adding an aircraft and increasing capacity. The Lufthansa Group airline plans to introduce a new route next spring.
The airline will enhance its short and medium-haul network next summer, offering more than 71 destinations with an 18% increase in capacity compared to summer 2024. A notable addition is Funchal (FNC), the capital of Madeira, Portugal. Flights to Madeira will commence in April 2025 using an Airbus A320 aircraft, connecting Brussels to the island known for its natural beauty and challenging landings.
Madeira becomes the fourth destination served by Brussels Airlines in Portugal. The airline will also add flights to Faro (FAO) and Porto (OPO). On the Iberian Peninsula, services to Fuerteventura (FUE) in the Canary Islands will extend into next summer. With this addition, Brussels Airlines will serve eleven destinations in Spain and increase capacity on routes to Malaga, Barcelona, Valencia, and Madrid.
