Air France recently experienced a situation at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport involving a dog that escaped during the unloading process. The dog, named Amalka, was traveling from Vienna to Paris in a carrier cage and managed to slip out, causing a significant stir at the airport.

The dog's owner, who was on the same flight, had to endure a nine-day wait before being reunited with Amalka. During this time, posters were displayed around the airport to aid in the search efforts. The owner was accommodated at a hotel in Paris while waiting for the reunion.

Air France confirmed through CBS News and AFP that "after several days of intense searches, we are delighted to confirm that Amalka has been found and returned to her owner." They added that "both will be able to travel to their final destination soon."

The incident prompted immediate action from Charles de Gaulle Airport authorities. Two runways were closed as drones were deployed to locate the animal. The search operation was strategically conducted during early afternoon hours, which is considered a non-peak period for airport operations.

Despite several sightings by airport employees, capturing Amalka proved challenging as she evaded capture multiple times before finally being caught and returned to her owner. Images of their reunion have since circulated on social media.

Traveling with pets is becoming more common; however, not all airlines accommodate pets onboard. Those that do have specific protocols in place to ensure safe transport. This incident highlights the importance of adhering to these rules when traveling with animals.

Earlier this year, another incident involving an animal occurred when a French Bulldog died on an Alaska Airlines flight due to stress. Such cases are rare as most animals are transported safely on flights today.
