Iberia has launched four new routes from its Madrid hub between November 30 and December 1, marking a significant expansion of its winter-oriented network. The Spanish airline introduced flights to Rovaniemi, Salzburg, Innsbruck, and Tromsø. Three of these destinations are new additions to Iberia's route map.

The Madrid-Tromsø service is particularly noteworthy as it covers 1,892 nautical miles (3,504 km) each way, making it the longest European route in Iberia's network over the past two decades. This route will be operated twice weekly using an A320 aircraft until March 2.

The other newly introduced routes include Madrid-Rovaniemi and Madrid-Salzburg, both served by A320s with varying frequencies throughout the winter season. The Rovaniemi route last operated in February 2024 and will continue until March 1. Meanwhile, the Salzburg service will run until March 26.

Additionally, Iberia has resumed or initiated several other routes for December involving limited operations around Christmas and New Year. These include domestic flights like Badajoz-Palma de Mallorca and Barcelona-Strasbourg among others.

Looking ahead to early next year, Iberia plans further expansions with international routes starting from January to March 2025. Notable upcoming services include Leon-Porto commencing on January 10 and the resumption of Madrid-Edinburgh on March 30. Another key highlight is the launch of the Madrid-Washington Dulles route on January 15 using an A321XLR aircraft.

These strategic moves are part of Iberia’s broader effort to enhance connectivity during peak travel periods while leveraging its fleet capabilities for long-haul narrowbody operations.
