Emirates has introduced its first Airbus A350, marking a significant milestone for the Dubai-based airline. The aircraft, registered as A6-EXA, was delivered from Toulouse last Monday and unveiled in Dubai with an invitation extended to Simple Flying for an exclusive tour.

Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates, highlighted the airline's commitment to cabin customization during the unveiling. "I am sure our friends at Airbus will tell you that Emirates is rather demanding about customization. When it comes to product and customer experience, an off-the-shelf or cookie-cutter approach is not for us," he stated.

The business class cabin on the new A350 features 32 seats arranged in a staggered 1-2-1 configuration, similar to that found on some of Emirates' other aircraft but with distinct differences. Privacy screens are available between seats for added seclusion.

Passengers in business class will find familiar amenities such as multiple charging ports and a tablet to control seat functions and the In-flight Entertainment (IFE) system. Notably absent is the popular bar found on Emirates' A380s; instead, snacks are laid out behind the rear central seats.

An upgrade across all cabins includes electronic window shades called aerBlade by Aerospace Technology Group. This feature offers complete blackout capability at every seat along with a tinted translucent blade in premium cabins.

The IFE system boasts 4K displays across all classes—20 inches in business class and 13.3 inches in economy and premium economy—with features catering to various passenger needs including Bluetooth connectivity and customizable settings through Emirates Skywards accounts.

Premium economy offers a more spacious layout than previous models with three rows configured 2-3-2. Economy class provides subtle enhancements like mesh seatback pockets and wood-effect tray tables.

Despite some limitations such as no crew rest area initially restricting flights over 12 hours, additional comforts include water dispensers and snack provisions during long flights.

The Emirates Airbus A350 will commence operations on routes between Dubai and Edinburgh starting January 3rd before expanding further as more aircraft join the fleet.
