FedEx is marking the 25th anniversary of its operations center at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle by announcing the completion of a new building dedicated to handling heavy goods and cargo over 68 kg. This €30 million investment will be fully operational in 2025 and is part of FedEx's ongoing network optimization to adapt to changing market trends. The aim is to enhance service quality for businesses shipping heavy items within Europe and internationally.

The existing infrastructure, set to become a hub for heavy cargo operations, is being remodeled in collaboration with Groupe ADP (Aéroports de Paris). Spanning 22,200 square meters, the facility will centralize heavy goods processing in one location. It will feature state-of-the-art equipment, including scanners and mobile weight measurement systems, leading to energy savings through LED lighting.

"We are delighted to announce this new enhancement of our operations with the addition of a building dedicated to freight transportation at our historic Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle hub on its 25th anniversary," said Julien Ducoup, Vice President Hub Operations at FedEx France. "This will strengthen our sorting capabilities as we see significant opportunities in parcel and deferred transport markets. As we celebrate these 25 years, we are proud to continue contributing positively to the regional economy: today, for every job created by FedEx, four more jobs are generated in the Île-de-France area. Our hub has played a key role in some historical moments, including the first delivery of vaccines during the COVID-19 crisis. We remain committed to our customers and businesses in France and Europe and are determined to continue innovating to anticipate market changes," he added.

Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle serves as FedEx's main European hub and is second only worldwide after its Memphis operations center. It employs most of FedEx's team members in the Paris region—totaling around 4,000 out of 5,500—and can currently process up to 68,000 packages and documents per hour. The center is undergoing modernization efforts aligned with FedEx's goal of achieving carbon-neutral operations by 2040 through electrifying on-site ground vehicle fleets and investing in over 500 square meters of solar panels. It connects with FedEx’s international operations center in Marly-la-Ville linking France with the broader European road network.

Since establishing its plant at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle in 1999, FedEx has invested over €600 million into its facilities over the past quarter-century covering a total area of 72,000 square meters.

To address dynamic market changes characterized by volume fluctuations throughout the year due to various external factors, FedEx has implemented a strategic approach within its air network model allowing differentiated management across package flows between priority services optimizing global network utilization effectively.
