As the year draws to a close, holders of The Platinum Card from American Express and The Business Platinum Card from American Express are reminded to utilize their available statement credits before they reset on January 1. These credits are part of the cards' benefits designed to offset annual fees but must be used within the calendar year.

The Amex Platinum Card offers up to $100 in statement credits annually for purchases at Saks Fifth Avenue or saks.com. This benefit requires prior enrollment and is divided into two periods: up to $50 from January 1 to June 30, and another $50 from July 1 to December 31. "We're nearing the final days to use these credits; if you haven't made any qualifying purchases yet, you should do so now," advises AMERICANEXPRESS.COM.

Similarly, the Amex Business Platinum Card provides up to $400 per year in statement credits for Dell purchases, split into two $200 periods across the year. Enrollment is also necessary for this benefit. The credit is scheduled to end on June 30, 2025. "Since we're approaching the end of the year, be sure to take advantage before the credits reset," states AMERICANEXPRESS.COM.

Cardholders are urged not only to enroll for these benefits but also to consider potential shipping delays that could affect when charges are applied. If items purchased late in December ship after January 1, cardholders might miss out on using their current year's credits.

To maximize savings, it is recommended that cardholders go through online shopping portals like Cashback Monitor or Ratuken for additional cash back or points.

In conclusion, these use-it-or-lose-it benefits can significantly help offset annual fees if utilized properly before they expire at year's end.
