A North Texas woman was apprehended at Washington Dulles International Airport with 71 pounds of marijuana in her luggage. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection intercepted the drugs before she could board a flight to London.

The passenger, identified as Du Li Park, 30, had concealed the marijuana in vacuum-sealed bags within her baggage. Authorities discovered 60 such bags, estimating the street value of the drugs at approximately $330,000. Park was subsequently taken to the airport's CBP inspection station.

Following this discovery, Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police arrested Park on November 23. She faces charges including felony possession with intent to distribute, transporting controlled substances into the Commonwealth, and narcotics conspiracy.

While the potency of the seized marijuana has not been disclosed, CBS News reports that its street value could have increased significantly if successfully smuggled.

Washington Dulles International Airport offers direct flights to London Heathrow International Airport via British Airways, United Airlines, and Virgin Atlantic.

In a related incident earlier in November at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), authorities intercepted a man attempting to fly to Sydney with over 70 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in clothing. Raj Matharu was arrested after admitting ownership of two suitcases containing drug-laced garments.

These cases highlight ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to prevent drug trafficking through major international airports.
