Neos Air has revealed plans to launch a direct flight connecting Bari Karol Wojtyła Airport and New York JFK Airport. This service will operate weekly using Neos Air's Boeing 787 Dreamliner, primarily serving the visiting friends and relatives (VFR) market, especially US-Italians. This new route is part of Neos Air's expansion in the United States from various Italian cities and highlights the growing significance of air travel between Italy and the US.

Bari has not had regular transatlantic passenger flights in its nearly century-long history. The new route to New York aims to serve approximately 88,000 passengers who traveled between Bari and North America in the year ending July 2024, with New York being the largest market among them.

Carlo Stradiotti, CEO at Neos Air, commented on this development: “We strongly believe in the potential of the Puglia market. The number of passengers in the region’s airports continues to grow and it is our objective to transport nearly 12,700 travelers in the first year of operation."

The route will operate once a week with Boeing 787 aircraft from June 3 to October 15, 2025. The flight schedule starts from New York JFK at 16:00 arriving in Bari at 08:00. The return flight departs Bari at 11:30 and arrives back in New York at 13:50.

Michele Emiliano, President of the Puglia region, stated that this new route represents more than just an additional flight option: “It is a dream that is taking off, a hub between Puglia and the world, a bridge that unites traditions, attachment and opportunity.”

This new connection adds to Neos Air’s existing routes from Milan Malpensa and Palermo to New York JFK. While Neos faces competition from major US carriers like Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, and American Airlines as well as ITA Airways within Italy-US routes, it focuses mainly on leisure travelers compared to its competitors' premium traffic offerings.
