Half Moon Cay, a private island destination in the Bahamas, is set for significant renovations and a new name: RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay. The island is co-owned by Carnival Cruise Line and Holland America, who will collaborate on the upgrades.

The north side of RelaxAway will feature a new pier to accommodate larger vessels like Carnival's Excel Class ships. Currently, both lines' ships dock on the south side. A shore excursion pier will also be added for tours and activities. New dining options include two lunch spots and several bars with an island theme.

The south side will see updates to its beach club, facilities, and lunch area. Both sides of the island will have enhanced oceanfront welcome plazas extending over one mile. Additional lounging areas with more cabanas are planned, along with a tram service for easier transportation around the island.

Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, stated: "Calling this piece of paradise RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay reinforces our commitment to preserve the attributes that make the destination so appealing as we expand access and welcome more guests to the destination's crystal-clear waters, white-sand beaches and lush landscapes."

Some improvements are expected by summer 2026, with completion aimed for year-end 2026. Half Moon Cay has been hosting cruise ships since 1997 after being initially leased by Holland America. It became part of Carnival Corp when Carnival acquired Holland America in 1989.

In 2026, RelaxAway will host Carnival passengers on various Caribbean itineraries from Miami and Galveston. Holland America's summer itineraries are pending release but include 50 spring calls to the island.
