Flair Airlines, a Canadian carrier recently recognized as the nation's most punctual airline, has announced a significant increase in flight frequencies between Alberta and British Columbia. The additional flights will commence in April 2025.

The expansion focuses on four major airports: Edmonton International Airport (YEG), Calgary International Airport (YYC), Vancouver International Airport (YVR), and Abbotsford International Airport (YXX). The airline plans to operate up to 340 more monthly flights across these routes compared to 2024, marking a year-over-year increase of at least 50% for each route.

Eric Tanner, VP of Network Planning and Revenue Management at Flair Airlines, stated: “The interconnectivity between Alberta and British Columbia is only getting stronger and more economically essential. Flair is empowering passengers to do day trips between Alberta and British Columbia with affordable, convenient flight options in the morning and evening.”

The Vancouver to Calgary route will see the most significant increase, with up to five daily flights starting next spring. This enhancement follows careful negotiations with each airport to boost convenience and connectivity for travelers.

Adrian Warchola, Director of Air Service Development at Edmonton International Airport, commented on the development: "Flair’s expansion at YEG is a testament to the growing demand for travel options in our region. This increase in non-stop service helps to strengthen connections for our community, drive economic prosperity and provide more opportunities to explore."

Edmonton International Airport will see 25 peak weekly frequencies to Abbotsford (up 56% from last year) and 24 weekly flights to Vancouver (up 50%) with Flair. The airport aims to reach 7.8 million passengers by the end of 2024.

Ross Siemens, Mayor of Abbotsford, expressed enthusiasm about Flair's increased capacity: “Flair Airlines shares our commitment to making air travel more affordable and accessible for all Canadians. We are very pleased to see Flair increasing its capacity and offering even more flights to and from Abbotsford International Airport this summer.”

Flair Airlines recorded a low cancellation rate last month with 99.1% of flights operating as planned. It also introduced an On-Time Guarantee that compensates passengers if a flight is delayed over an hour or canceled within three days of departure.
