Taiwan's STARLUX Airlines is set to expand its services on the US West Coast by increasing flight frequencies from Los Angeles and Seattle to Taipei. The airline, which promotes itself as a premium carrier, offers flights to various destinations across Asia and the United States. Recently, STARLUX initiated a codeshare agreement with Alaska Airlines, providing more connectivity options for passengers traveling via Seattle.

The airline will enhance its schedule from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Seattle–Tacoma International Airport (SEA). STARLUX utilizes Airbus A350-900 aircraft for these routes, accommodating 306 passengers in four classes: first class, business class, premium economy, and economy.

STARLUX CEO Glenn Chai commented on the expansion: “We’re excited to elevate the trans-Pacific travel experience with our expanded flight offerings from Los Angeles and Seattle to Taipei. This enhancement not only connects more passengers to our world-class service and amenities but also strengthens ties between the United States, Taipei, and many more incredible cities across Asia. As an APEX Five Star Major Airline, STARLUX is committed to delivering unparalleled comfort and convenience at every stage of our passengers’ journeys.”

Currently operating daily flights between Taipei and Los Angeles, STARLUX will increase this service to 10 weekly flights starting December 22. Meanwhile, additional frequencies between Taipei and Seattle will commence on March 1, 2025.

STARLUX has been expanding its US network steadily. According to Cirium data, it plans to operate 160 return flights from Taipei to Seattle, Los Angeles, and San Francisco in December. Earlier this year, the airline increased its Taipei-San Francisco route frequency due to rising demand. In August, it launched a new service to Seattle amidst competition from Delta Air Lines, EVA Air, and China Airlines.

In a strategic move earlier this year, STARLUX formed a codeshare partnership with Alaska Airlines. This allows customers flying from the US eight additional domestic destinations on a single ticket. The cities included are Salt Lake City, San Diego, Phoenix, Portland, Las Vegas, Dallas, Denver, and Austin. Chai stated: “This codeshare makes it easier for passengers to book connecting flights and travel seamlessly between these destinations using both airlines."

The airline operates an all-Airbus fleet including A321neos, A330neos and A350s. It recently ordered freighter versions of the A350s as part of its ongoing commitment as an Airbus customer.
