Boeing and Pegasus Airlines have announced a significant deal that will see Türkiye's prominent low-cost carrier modernize its fleet with up to 200 Boeing 737 MAX airplanes. The agreement includes a firm order for 100 of the 737-10 jets, with options for an additional 100.

The Boeing 737-10 is the largest model in the 737 MAX family, capable of carrying up to 230 passengers over distances of up to 5,740 kilometers. This aircraft promises a reduction in fuel use and emissions by 20% compared to older models it replaces, offering Pegasus Airlines enhanced efficiency and flexibility.

"Boeing aircraft have been an integral part of our operations since Pegasus entered the aviation industry in 1990," said Güliz Öztürk, CEO of Pegasus Airlines. She added that this expansion aligns with their growth targets both within Türkiye and globally.

Ozturk further explained that they would consider converting the remaining 100 aircraft options into firm orders based on future market conditions and fleet needs.

Pegasus Airlines began its operations nearly 35 years ago with Boeing's 737 Classic. The new addition of the 737-10 will complement their existing Next-Generation 737s, allowing them to meet increasing travel demand efficiently.

Stephanie Pope, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, expressed excitement about welcoming Pegasus as a new customer for the 737 MAX series. "We appreciate their trust in the Boeing team," she stated.

This order is expected to support Pegasus Airlines' efforts to reach new markets across Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia, and Africa. According to Boeing's Commercial Market Outlook, European and Central Asian operators are projected to receive nearly 7,900 single-aisle airplanes over the next two decades.

"When considered within the scope of Boeing's National Aerospace Initiative launched with the Turkish government in 2017," Öztürk noted, "our order will also open new doors and create production and export opportunities both for Turkish manufacturers and for the wider aviation industry."

Pegasus was incorporated in 1990 and became a scheduled low-cost carrier after being acquired by ESAS Holding in 2005. It currently operates flights to numerous destinations across various regions from its base in Türkiye.

Boeing continues its role as a leading global aerospace company providing commercial airplanes alongside defense products and space systems worldwide. The company emphasizes sustainability while advancing economic opportunity through its extensive supplier network.
