As the holiday season approaches, many find themselves overwhelmed with preparations and travel plans. At The Points Guy (TPG), this time of year prompts a review of credit card benefits and future travel strategies. This year, TPG staff decided to create a holiday wish list, not just for children but for themselves as well.

The wish list includes aspirations for improvements in credit card offerings. Frequent travelers at TPG are familiar with cobranded hotel credit cards such as the Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card, the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card, and the World of Hyatt Credit Card. Each card offers various perks like bonus points on stays, free night awards, and room upgrades. However, there is hope for enhancements in 2025.

Some desired changes include a premium World of Hyatt card entering the market and more flexible rewards categories on existing cards like the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card. Other wishes involve better lounge access options and improved reward rates for home improvement purchases on Chase or American Express cards.

In terms of loyalty programs, TPG staff express hopes for changes like eliminating Club Access Awards at Hyatt's Globalist level and adding more useful benefits at Hyatt's Explorist status level. They also desire enhancements such as guaranteed late checkouts for certain elite members across different hotel chains.

Additionally, some staffers want to see Citi ThankYou Rewards points convertible to AAdvantage miles while acknowledging potential devaluation concerns. There's also interest in Capital One adding one of the major U.S. airlines as a transfer partner in 2025.

As TPG continues to speculate about upcoming changes in loyalty programs and credit card perks, they hope that some items from their holiday wish list will materialize in the coming year.
