According to Textron Systems, "the system’s quadcopter design significantly expands the range of possible launch and recovery options," enabling vertical takeoff and landing.
The Aerosonde can be operated by as few as two personnel and features a hybrid powerplant using JP-8 heavy fuel, common among military vehicles. Its modular configurations allow for rapid deployment within 30 minutes, providing flexibility for various mission requirements.
The drone boasts an impressive endurance capability, remaining airborne for up to fourteen hours. This feature is crucial for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions in modern warfare. The Aerosonde's specifications include a maximum gross takeoff weight of 205 lbs (93 kg), payload capacity up to 50 lbs (22.7 kg), and a service ceiling of 15,000 ft (5000 m).
