Aerolíneas Argentinas has launched a new non-stop Boeing 737 MAX 8 service from Rosario, Argentina's third most populous city, to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. This route marks the airline's longest narrowbody service by distance and time.

The Friday-only service began on January 3, with flight AR1348 departing Rosario at 15:10 and arriving in Punta Cana at 22:20 local time. The return flight, AR1349, leaves Punta Cana at 23:35 and lands back in Rosario at 08:45 the following day. The block time for each leg is scheduled for 8 hours and 10 minutes.

The aircraft used for this inaugural roundtrip was LV-GVE, delivered in 2017. It features a seating configuration of eight business class seats and 162 economy class seats. This setup aims to keep the aircraft lighter to extend its range.

Punta Cana remains a popular destination for Argentine travelers. In the year leading up to October 2024, approximately 340,000 passengers traveled between Argentina and Punta Cana. Of these, about 12,000 flew from Rosario via Panama City with Copa Airlines.

The new route spans a distance of 3,107 nautical miles (5,754 km) each way, placing it among the world's longest non-stop services operated by a Boeing 737. It is just slightly shorter than TUI fly Nordic's Helsinki to Boa Vista route.

In terms of regular long-distance services using the Boeing 737, Gol's Brasília-Orlando link holds the record as the longest regularly served route. Aerolíneas Argentinas' new service is only marginally shorter than this connection.

Aerolíneas Argentinas has several other long-haul routes using their Boeing fleet:

- Cordoba-Punta Cana operates three to four times weekly.

- Tucuman-Punta Cana runs weekly.

- Buenos Aires Jorge Newbery-Bogotá sees six flights weekly.

- Other routes include connections from Buenos Aires to Salvador and Lima.
