Zach Griff, a travel blogger for The Points Guy, has shared his reflections on 2024 and his plans for the coming year. Last year was significant for Griff both personally and professionally. He traveled over 100,000 miles across 59 flight segments, visiting destinations such as Europe, Greece, and Italy's Puglia region.

Griff announced that he paused traveling for nearly three months towards the end of the year due to the birth of his daughter in late October. This life event has prompted him to reconsider his approach to travel. "Now that we're a family of three, I'm starting to develop some new perspectives about travel," Griff stated.

In 2025, Griff intends to focus more on family trips while still fulfilling work commitments. He plans to introduce his daughter to travel with visits to family in Israel and cities like London with child-friendly attractions. For work-related travel, he aims to minimize time away from home by opting for same-day turnarounds when possible.

Griff also outlined changes in his elite status strategy for 2025. He dropped JetBlue Mosaic status after finding limited benefits but may reconsider if his JetBlue travels increase. Despite frustrations with American Airlines' Executive Platinum status due to competition for upgrades, he plans to renew it this year. United Premier 1K proved valuable last year due to successful PlusPoints upgrades.

Griff highlighted the importance of credit cards in maintaining hotel loyalty statuses like Hyatt Globalist and Hilton Diamond through cobranded credit cards. "Credit cards are also the key to unlocking hotel status," he noted.

The Points Guy provides additional resources on topics such as booking flights at the best times and maximizing airfare through credit card use.
