A JetBlue flight from Boston to Puerto Rico faced a significant delay on January 7 after a passenger opened the emergency exit door over the wing of the aircraft. The Airbus A320 was on an active taxiway at Boston Logan International Airport when the incident occurred, causing the emergency slide to deploy unexpectedly.

The passenger's actions surprised everyone onboard. Other passengers managed to restrain the individual until law enforcement arrived. CBS News reported that state police confirmed, "Other passengers restrained the individual until troopers arrived on scene to detain them for further questioning."

The Federal Aviation Administration is currently investigating this incident. The passenger is scheduled to appear in East Boston District Court for arraignment.

This event adds to a series of similar incidents involving unauthorized opening of aircraft doors. Last year, a man attempted to open an American Airlines plane door mid-flight and faced charges for interfering with crew members. In another case, a Copa Airlines passenger tried to open an aircraft door near Panama City.

JetBlue has been in recent headlines due to other events as well. Passengers complained about their treatment during a lengthy delay on a flight from Turks and Caicos in late December 2024. Additionally, two bodies were discovered in the wheel well of a JetBlue aircraft at Fort Lauderdale International Airport shortly after it arrived from New York's JFK Airport.
