Lufthansa Group is set to recruit up to 10,000 new employees in 2025. The airline group plans to hire over 2,000 flight attendants and 800 pilots, although this target is lower than the previous year's goal of 13,000 hires. The recruitment drive aims to reduce costs and streamline operations.

The company intends to bring in staff across various roles including ground staff, technicians, and administrative positions. More than half of these recruits will be based in Germany. A significant number of hires are expected at Lufthansa Technik, its maintenance division.

Michael Niggemann, Member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, stated: "The Lufthansa Group is and remains an attractive employer with many different job profiles and career options. Last year alone, we received 350,000 applications across the Group and recruited over 13,000 employees. We look forward to welcoming every new colleague."

Lufthansa itself plans a modest recruitment target of 1,200 employees as part of its "Turnaround" efficiency plan which includes phasing out older aircraft models.

In other developments, Lufthansa has faced labor disputes that have impacted its financial performance. Strikes affected its airlines financially earlier this year. Additionally, the certification delay for its new Allegris business class cabins on Boeing 787 Dreamliners could affect deliveries.

Austrian Airlines and Eurowings aim to hire around 700 recruits each this year. Meanwhile, Lufthansa's net profit for the first nine months of 2024 was just under $900 million despite high third-quarter revenues.

Lufthansa Group currently employs over 100,000 people worldwide and has hired more than 30,000 individuals over the past three years. It is also close to acquiring a stake in ITA Airways with plans to invest $338 million for a 41% share.
