Hawaiian Airlines, in collaboration with Alaska Airlines, has unveiled a preview of its upcoming premium lounge at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu. The new lounge is set to open at the end of 2027 and will feature designs inspired by Hawaii's natural elements, including sculptures and colorful lighting structures aimed at creating a relaxing atmosphere.

The new facility will be located at the entrance of the Mauka Concourse in Terminal 1 and will be five times larger than Hawaiian Airlines' current lounge in Honolulu. Specific details about access policies and whether this new space will replace the existing Plumeria Lounge have not been disclosed. Hawaiian currently operates two lounges: the Premier Club for elite frequent flyers and first-class passengers, and the more exclusive Plumeria Lounge for long-haul first-class travelers and top-tier elite members.

The announcement was initially made during Investor Day for Alaska Air Group in December. Alaska Airlines recently acquired Hawaiian Airlines and is implementing a commercial strategy that includes expanding Seattle into a global hub and integrating Hawaiian's aircraft into Alaska's routes. This plan emphasizes enhancing premium travel experiences, such as airport lounges.

Alongside the Honolulu lounge, Alaska Airlines plans to open a flagship international lounge in Seattle and another outpost in San Diego. Details on these projects remain limited, but it is known that the Seattle lounge will be significantly larger than the current North Satellite lounge there.

Todd Traynor-Corey, Alaska's vice president of guest products and experience, stated: "We are reimagining the travel experience with spaces that showcase our dedication to guest satisfaction and the unique culture of Hawai'i. Our new Honolulu lounge will be the first-of-its-kind within this space and will offer a modern oasis for our guests to enjoy."
