Airbus has reported the delivery of 766 commercial aircraft in 2024, describing it as a "good year" despite falling short of its original and revised targets. The company's CEO, Christian Scherer, acknowledged that although they missed their initial goal of 800 and later revised target of 770 aircraft deliveries, the results demonstrate sustained demand for new planes.

In 2024, Airbus delivered various aircraft models including 75 A220s, 602 A320s, 32 A330s, and 57 A350 family aircraft. This marked an increase of 31 deliveries compared to the previous year. However, the record set in 2019 with 863 aircraft remains unmatched.

Scherer highlighted key customer wins and significant momentum in the widebody orderbook alongside maintaining a strong position in the single-aisle market. Notable achievements include the first-ever delivery of an A321XLR to Iberia in October and several airlines receiving their first A330neo and A350 aircraft.

Widebody deliveries were notable with Malaysia Airlines and Kuwait Airways receiving their first A330-900s. Emirates and Ethiopian Airlines also added their first A350-900 and A350-1000 respectively. Scherer stated: “Given the complex and fast-changing environment we continue to operate in, we consider 2024 a good year."

Airbus plans to release its full-year financial results on February 20. Their latest guidance projected adjusted earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) around €5.5 billion ($5.6 billion) with free cash flow (FCF) approximately €3.5 billion ($3.6 billion).

In December alone, Airbus' customers received a substantial addition of 123 new aircraft across various models including two A220-100s and ten A350-900s among others.

Rolls-Royce's engine supply issues have been noted as a challenge affecting some airlines like British Airways which had to cut routes due to problems with Trent engines powering Boeing 787s.
