This winter, UK airports offer non-stop and one-stop international flights to 383 global destinations. London remains a major hub, with services to 378 of these locations. However, some international routes from the UK capital are not currently served.

An analysis using Cirium Diio data reveals five international destinations not flown from London. Three of these previously had flights operated by Ryanair, an ultra-low-cost carrier. Notably, Weeze in Germany was last served by Ryanair from London Stansted between April and October 2019. Despite its proximity to other airports like Eindhoven and Düsseldorf, the route saw only 80% seat occupancy compared to Ryanair's average in the mid-90s.

The five destinations include Beauvais, Charleroi, Donegal, Esbjerg, and Weeze. Beauvais is accessible via fast trains due to its proximity to Paris. Charleroi had flights until 2008 but is also close enough for train travel from Brussels. Donegal is only connected through Glasgow by Loganair. Esbjerg's last service was in 2007 from Stansted.

This year marks the return of four more destinations that will regain UK flights after several years without service. These include Ålesund with Norwegian airlines relaunching Gatwick service on April 11; Clermont-Ferrand with Ryanair recommencing Stansted service on March 30; Lübeck rejoining Ryanair’s network on April 1; and Münster Osnabrück restarting Stansted flights on March 30.

Ryanair will operate three of these routes while Norwegian will handle Ålesund-Gatwick. The return of Lübeck and Münster Osnabrück means the UK will have connections to 17 German airports this summer with an average of 125 daily take-offs across various airport pairs.
