This latest announcement follows a significant year for Allegiant that included a previously announced expansion featuring 44 new routes as part of its strategy focused on linking smaller cities with vacation destinations.
"It's a perfect destination spot for the Allegiant network," said Drew Wells, chief commercial officer at Allegiant Air on July 9 from the carrier's Las Vegas headquarters.
"We know that there are hundreds of folks that are driving four, six, even 12 hours to have their vacation down there," Wells added regarding Gulf Shores. "It's great to turn that drive into a convenient flight."
With these changes, Toledo will offer four Florida destinations by November and Fort Wayne will have flights to five cities in Florida through Allegiant’s service. Des Moines will see its total number of Allegiant destinations increase to seven.
To mark the launch of these new services, Allegiant is offering discounted fares starting at $49 one-way for bookings made by July 30 for travel through February 10, 2026.
Looking ahead, while known for its basic onboard offerings without inflight entertainment or Wi-Fi options so far, Allegiant CEO recently told The Points Guy that discussions are underway about possibly adding inflight Wi-Fi via Starlink — a system currently being installed by United Airlines on its fleet.
