Delta Air Lines, one of the largest carriers globally, faced significant disruptions due to a major snowstorm at its main hub, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The storm forced the airline to cancel approximately 1,100 flights on Friday. Delta is working to restore standard operations and minimize impacts on other customers.
The winter storm affected the southeastern United States, causing delays and cancellations in Atlanta. Delta advised passengers to arrive three hours before their flight's scheduled departure time due to extended security wait times. As of Saturday noon, around 375 flights had been canceled between Delta's mainline operations and Delta Connection flights.
In response to the disruptions, Delta is waiving checked baggage fees through Saturday for passengers traveling on Delta-operated flights. However, this waiver does not apply to flights departing from Amsterdam due to ground handling by KLM. Refunds will be issued for customers who have already paid for their bags.
