British Airways is expanding its presence in the United States by enhancing its codeshare agreement with JetBlue, anticipating a busy summer season. This move will increase the frequency of British Airways' services on existing North American routes and extend BA flight numbers to several domestic JetBlue flights from Boston and New York JFK.

The codeshare arrangement between British Airways and JetBlue has been particularly beneficial for both airlines. For JetBlue, this partnership allows the carrier to strengthen its position in the European market, as British Airways passengers can earn Avios points on JetBlue flights. The expanded agreement now includes BA flight numbers on routes such as Boston to Atlanta, Austin, Cleveland, Denver, Seattle, and New York JFK to Atlanta, Sacramento, and Seattle.

JetBlue's collaboration with British Airways and American Airlines has not yet led to its membership in the oneworld alliance. Despite these partnerships providing significant benefits due to their presence at major airports like Boston and New York JFK—key hubs for American Airlines—JetBlue remains independent from any major airline alliance.

In recent years, JetBlue has been working to expand into the transatlantic long-haul market. The airline launched flights from New York JFK to London Heathrow in 2021 using Airbus A321LR aircraft and later added services from Boston to London, Paris CDG, and Amsterdam. However, challenges have arisen within its European network; notably, temporary suspension of flights to Amsterdam during the summer of 2024 with plans to resume in March 2025.

Despite setbacks such as deferring deliveries of Airbus A321XLRs intended for transatlantic routes or removing hot meals from economy class on long-haul flights—substituting them with cold options like wraps or salads—JetBlue continues to be a reliable partner for British Airways and American Airlines. This collaboration provides more choices for travelers between North America and Europe while potentially benefiting ticket prices through increased competition.
