The UK's aviation and tourism sector, which currently supports 1.6 million jobs and contributes USD 160.7 billion to the nation's GDP, is expressing concerns over proposed price hikes for the UK Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA). The industry argues that increasing costs could deter visitors before they even arrive in the country.

A statement emphasized the potential negative impact of such a decision: "It's time for the UK government to see the big picture. It has everything to gain by making the UK a more cost-competitive travel destination—including the substantial tax revenues that travelers generate. It makes no sense to discourage visitors with high costs even before they set foot in the country."

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has conducted a study on this issue, providing further insights into how these changes might affect both tourism and broader economic contributions.
