Labor dispute intensifies between Evolution Gaming and Georgian workers

As the ICE gaming conference convenes in Barcelona from January 20 to 22, a labor dispute at Evolution Gaming draws attention. Dealers and shufflers employed by one of the world's largest gambling platforms are advocating for fair pay and improved working conditions.

Instead of engaging with its employees, Evolution Gaming has taken legal action against them. UNI Global Union, along with its affiliates like Servicios CC.OO and FeSMC UGT in Spain, calls on the Swedish-owned online casino provider to negotiate with workers.

"Evolution Georgia workers deserve a fair deal!" stated UNI Global Union alongside Servicios CC.OO and FeSMC UGT on January 20, 2025. They urge Evolution Gaming to address the demands of its workforce in Georgia, who have been striking since July 2024 for safe working environments, livable wages, and collective bargaining rights.

The union emphasizes that "Evolution Gaming must respect freedom of association and collective bargaining in all the countries where they operate." The company's decision to sue employees is seen as an escalation rather than a solution to underlying issues concerning basic rights and fair treatment.

The ongoing struggle highlights what UNI Global Union describes as Evolution Gaming's disregard for workers' rights. The company’s financial success, including a twelve-fold profit increase since establishing operations in Georgia in 2018, underscores the importance of addressing these concerns. Clients such as BetFair, Paddy Power, Caesars, and Grosvenor Casinos contribute to this growth.

UNI's Gaming sector represents workers across various gambling establishments worldwide. They stress that worker wellbeing is essential for industry success and advocate for better working conditions and opportunities for collective bargaining not only in Georgia but globally.
