Federal Express Corporation, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp., has introduced 10 new electric vehicles (EVs) to its fleet in New Zealand. These vehicles will be utilized for pickup and delivery operations in high-traffic areas of Auckland. The chosen model, the LDV eDeliver 9, offers zero-tailpipe emissions and can travel up to 200 kilometers on a full charge. Charging stations installed at FedEx facilities in Auckland ensure these EVs can operate efficiently throughout the day.

"Today marks an important moment in our operations in New Zealand," stated Stephen William, Senior Manager of Operations at FedEx New Zealand. "By integrating EVs into our fleet, we are taking tangible steps to help reduce the impact of our operations on the environment while also steering the industry towards a more sustainable model of delivery and logistics."

The introduction of EVs aligns with changing consumer preferences influenced by sustainability considerations. This move supports FedEx's goal of achieving carbon-neutral global operations by 2040. The company plans to transition to exclusively zero-tailpipe emissions vehicles for its parcel pickup and delivery fleet by 2030, aiming for complete electrification by 2040.
