フェデックスは、アジア太平洋地域で800人以上の従業員が参加し、1,000時間を超えるボランティア活動を行いました。これにより3,600 kg以上の生活必需品が収集され、寄付されました。この取り組みは、20を超える非営利団体との協力によって行われ、子どもや高齢者など1,600人以上に恩恵を与えました。
日本では特に年末に向けて食料支援が必要な人々のために米や乾麺など180kg以上の食品が集められました。これらは「特定非営利活動法人セカンドハーベスト・ジャパン」を通じて寄付されました。
この寄付活動は2024年10月から12月まで世界各地で実施された「FedEx Cares Purple Tote Campaign」の一環として行われました。オーストラリア、中国、日本、マレーシア、フィリピンなど11の国と地域からフェデックスの従業員が参加しました。
各市場の従業員はチームを組んで白血病患者への支援や教育用品提供など地域社会に変化をもたらすことを目指しました。「FedEx Cares（フェデックス・ケアズ）」のパープルトートバッグには包装食品や書籍などが詰め込まれ届けられました。
フェデックスのアジア太平洋地域社長カワール・プリット氏は、「フェデックスでは、地域社会と真に結びつき変化をもたらすことを、活動の中核に位置づけています」と述べています。また、「従業員が率先して困難な状況にある人を支援する姿を目にし、大変誇らしく思います」と続けます。
日本代表者である久保田圭氏も、「今回の取り組みは、フェデックスの従業員が地域社会への支援および環境保護へのコミットメントを示すための意義ある機会です」と語りました。そして、「まだ食べられる食品の寄付は食品ロス対策にもなり、日本全体の目標にも貢献できます」と述べています。
