Delta Air Lines has announced changes to its flight routes, impacting connections between the United States and Central America as well as enhancing domestic services for the summer of 2025.

The airline will discontinue nonstop flights from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Guatemala City and San Salvador starting in early May. The final LAX flight to El Salvador International Airport (SAL) is scheduled for departure on May 4, with a return on May 5. Service to Guatemala City's La Aurora International Airport (GUA) will conclude with a last southbound flight on May 5 and northbound on May 6. "This adjustment aligns with demand and supports increased domestic flying from Los Angeles," stated a Delta spokesperson.

Despite these cancellations, LAX will maintain direct connections to both Central American cities through other airlines such as Alaska Airlines, Avianca, United, and Volaris Costa Rica for the LAX-GUA route, and Avianca, United, and Volaris El Salvador for the LAX-SAL route. Delta will continue serving these destinations via its Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) hub.

In contrast to the route reductions, Delta is expanding its West Coast operations by reintroducing flights from LAX to Anchorage, Alaska. Beginning May 24, coinciding with Memorial Day weekend, weekly nonstop service will commence using Boeing 737-900ER aircraft featuring first-class recliners and Delta Comfort Plus seats. This service is set to run until August 30 during Labor Day weekend. Delta's return marks its first operation on this route since 2021.

Additionally, Delta plans to resume daily nonstop flights between Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas and Mineta International Airport (SJC) in San Jose starting June 8. The route will be operated with a 76-seat Embraer 175 regional jet under the Delta Connection brand. Other airlines including Alaska Airlines, Frontier Airlines, Spirit Airlines, United Airlines, and Southwest Airlines also serve this route.
