United Airlines has expanded its network by adding 16 new destinations in 2025. This development places United as the leading airline globally for available seat miles, despite not being the largest in terms of passengers, seats for sale, or flights.

The new additions include both domestic and international airports. Notably, 11 of these are international destinations. "More additions are international (11) than domestic (five). Moreover, all but three destinations are new to the Star Alliance's network," states the airline.

Among the new routes is a service from Newark to Bilbao starting May 31 with a Boeing 757-200ER. This marks Bilbao's first transatlantic service. Dakar will be connected to Washington Dulles from May 23 with a Boeing 767-300ER, following Air Senegal's withdrawal from US services.

Other notable routes include Dominica from Newark starting February 15 with a Boeing 737-700 and Faro from Newark on May 16 using a Boeing 757-200ER. Faro's launch was postponed from last year and will now be its first US service.

In Asia, United will connect Kaohsiung to Tokyo Narita beginning July 11 with a Boeing 737-800. This route marks the return of US airlines to Kaohsiung since Northwest Airlines ceased operations there in 2003.

Additionally, two Asian entries stem from United's Tokyo Narita hub: Kaohsiung and Ulaanbaatar. These flights enable connections between Japan and multiple US hubs. "Kaohsiung to Tokyo flights will arrive at 15:15, followed by Ulaanbaatar at 15:45," according to United Airlines.

The expansion also includes several domestic routes such as Butte and Farmington from Denver, Pellston and Rhinelander from Chicago O'Hare, among others.

United continues to serve more airports than any other carrier globally. As it stands in February, further expansions may occur throughout the year.
