Frontier Airlines has announced the launch of three new routes, expanding its service from six airports with new international connections. The routes are set to commence in May, and only one will operate without competition.

The airline will begin flights between Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) and Tampa International Airport (TPA), and Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) and Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) in the Dominican Republic.

Las Vegas to Washington-Dulles will offer daily services starting May 1. The Charlotte to Tampa route will start with twice-weekly services on May 2, increasing to four weekly flights by May 22. The Cincinnati to Punta Cana service is seasonal, scheduled once per week beginning May 17, pending government approval.

Josh Flyr, vice president of network and operations design at Frontier Airlines, stated that these new routes align with the airline's mission "to offer consumers affordable and convenient options to a wide variety of destinations across the US, Caribbean, and beyond." He added that as they enter 2025, they aim "to provide consumers even more ways to enjoy the best value in air travel."

Despite the expansion, Frontier Airlines will face competition on two out of the three routes. United Airlines plans 35 weekly flights between Las Vegas and Washington using aircraft such as Boeing 737-900s or 757-300s. American Airlines has scheduled 63 weekly flights from Charlotte to Tampa using Airbus A321ceos.

Spirit Airlines also offers five weekly flights on the Charlotte-Tampa route with Airbus A320neos. Frontier's A320neo provides ten additional seats compared to Spirit's aircraft.

Frontier holds a monopoly on the Cincinnati-Punta Cana route. Data shows that during the year leading up to July 2024, there were over 22,000 one-way passengers traveling this route via other airports.

Previously in 2019, Frontier was alone in selling direct flights between Cincinnati and Punta Cana since Delta Air Lines ceased operations on this route years ago.
