Both commercial and private aviation involve flying passengers to their destinations, but they differ significantly in terms of flexibility. Commercial aviation operates on fixed schedules and routes, while private aviation offers more flexibility regarding time, route, and other aspects of the journey.

Charter companies provide services that allow customers to rent or lease an aircraft for a specific itinerary or period. This service grants passengers control over their flight schedule, destination, passenger count, and onboard facilities without owning a jet. Customers can choose from various aircraft categories such as Very Light Jets, Small Light Jets, Super Light Jets, Midsize Jets, Super-Midsize Jets, Heavy Jets, Ultra-Long-Range Heavy Jets, and Executive Liners.

According to Globe Air, air charter services are divided into four categories: Private Charter, Corporate Charter, Cargo Charter, and Emergency and Medical Charter. These services cater to different needs ranging from personal travel to urgent medical deliveries.

Jet card memberships are another offering by charter companies. These memberships allow customers to book jets on demand at potentially lower costs than owning an aircraft. Members purchase flight hours upfront or opt for mileage-based cards. Deposit cards are also available for flexible future bookings.

On-ground services provided by charter companies often include seamless transfers from home to the airport and vice versa. Customers may also use private terminals (FBOs) for expedited security checks and a more pleasant pre-flight experience.

Affinity charter services offer pay-per-seat options where passengers share flights with others but maintain some exclusivity as these services are often restricted to members of specific organizations or clubs.

Charter companies also offer discounted "empty leg" flights when jets reposition between client bookings. While these flights lack flexibility in itinerary or aircraft type selection, they provide luxury travel at reduced costs.

Overall, charter companies deliver tailored aviation solutions with benefits akin to owning a private jet without the associated costs.
