SAS Scandinavian Airlines has revealed that nearly 1,000 members of its EuroBonus loyalty program have achieved the status of points millionaires. This was accomplished by completing a challenge to fly with 15 out of 17 SkyTeam alliance members. Among these new millionaires are 173 individuals based in the United States.

The airline shared the distribution of these EuroBonus millionaires, noting that they completed the challenge between October and December 2024. The top three countries represented are the United States with 173 millionaires, Japan with 149, and South Korea with 130. China follows with 112 millionaires. Notably, no other country exceeded 100 millionaires, including SAS's core markets: Sweden (67), Norway (50), and Denmark (22).

According to information shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, EuroBonus millionaires hail from 33 different countries worldwide. Each millionaire visited China during their travels. On average, participants visited 17 countries, with SAS being the most frequently used airline.

Out of the 42,718 people who signed up for this travel challenge, only 940 became millionaires—a conversion rate of approximately 2.2%. The age range among these travelers is broad; the oldest millionaire is aged 73 while the youngest is just four years old.

SAS launched this travel challenge in October 2024 after joining SkyTeam following its departure from Star Alliance. The carrier aimed to encourage exploration by offering more EuroBonus points for traveling with various airlines within a specific timeframe.

The rewards were divided into three tiers: flying with five different SkyTeam airlines earned participants 10,000 EuroBonus points; ten airlines garnered them 100,000 points; and flying with fifteen airlines resulted in one million EuroBonus points.

At that time, SkyTeam had twenty members. However, Aeroflot was temporarily suspended due to sanctions against Russia following its invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Additionally, Middle East Airlines faced disruptions due to conflict between Israel and Hezbollah until a ceasefire agreement took effect on November 27, 2024.

Despite changes within the alliance—such as ITA Airways initiating its exit process following Lufthansa Group's acquisition—SAS continued expanding partnerships through codeshare agreements since joining SkyTeam in September 2024. These agreements include collaborations with Delta Air Lines (announced on September 23), Virgin Atlantic, Air Europa, and Air France-KLM before officially joining SkyTeam.
