Hyatt's Thompson brand is set to expand its presence in Miami Beach, Florida, with the opening of a new hotel this summer. The Thompson Miami Beach will begin accepting reservations for stays starting June 1. The hotel will feature 147 rooms and suites in a newly constructed building on 17th Street and Washington Avenue, designed by French architect Rudy Ricciotti.

The interiors of the hotel have been crafted by designer Gulla Jónsdóttir, who has incorporated a midcentury modern style with South American-inspired elements. Each room will offer Sferra bed linens, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a private balcony or terrace.

Jónsdóttir's design emphasizes nature throughout the property, particularly in the hotel's atrium where lush greenery contrasts with neutral tones. While details about the dining options remain under wraps, guests can anticipate a lobby bar, an indoor-outdoor restaurant with a French influence on the roof, and a rooftop pool offering views of Miami Beach's art deco architecture.

"We're thrilled to introduce Thompson Miami Beach, a chic and eclectic new addition to the destination," said Karan Kakar, general manager of Thompson Miami Beach. "Seamlessly blending tropical modernism and South American flair throughout its design, the property will debut a Miami-inspired ambiance with unforgettable experiences that bring the Thompson ethos to life."

Hyatt's history in Miami Beach includes the previous incarnation of Thompson Miami Beach which transitioned into The Confidante under Hyatt's The Unbound Collection in 2016. In 2025, The Confidante is undergoing renovations to reopen as Andaz Miami Beach just before Thompson reestablishes itself in the area.

Both hotels are expected to appeal to Hyatt loyalists. Andaz offers beachfront accommodations for vacationers while Thompson aims to attract visitors seeking city vibes during events like Art Basel and Formula One Grand Prix.

"From sipping a cocktail in the Atrium Garden to enjoying coastal French cuisine at the rooftop restaurant overlooking Miami's Art Deco architecture," added Kakar, "Thompson Miami Beach will be a space for affluent travelers and locals alike to connect and take part in Miami Beach's renaissance."

Rates at Thompson Miami Beach start around $250 per night or 21,000 World of Hyatt points per night.
