Ethiopian Airlines' Airbus A350 | Ethiopian Airlines Website

Ethiopian Airlines, one of Africa's oldest carriers, operates a modern fleet from its hub in Addis Ababa. Among its aircraft are the Airbus A350-900 and A350-1000, which serve some of the airline's longest routes. Ethiopian Airlines' three longest routes with the A350 family all exceed 5,400 miles, according to Cirium data.

The shortest route connects Addis Ababa with Shanghai Pudong International Airport at 5,492 miles. This route is served almost daily by the A350-900. The other two long-haul routes link Addis Ababa with North American destinations. The Toronto Pearson International Airport route spans 7,154 miles and uses the A350-900. The longest route is between Washington Dulles International Airport and Addis Ababa, covering 7,193 miles and utilizing both A350 variants.

"Ethiopian Airlines flight ET552 is scheduled to depart Addis Ababa at 23:00 local time," according to Flightradar24 data. The westbound legs of these flights include a stopover in Rome for refueling but cannot be booked as fifth-freedom flights.

Ethiopian Airlines' fleet includes 20 A350-900s and three newer A350-1000s. "The first example (ET-ATQ) came onboard in June 2016," while the latest models arrived in November 2024.

Business class on Ethiopian's A350s features either Collins Diamond Parallel or Safran Optima seats. Passengers can expect amenities like lounge access and priority boarding. Economy class offers different configurations depending on the aircraft model, with variations in seat pitch and charging options.

"Passengers traveling in its Cloud Nine business class cabin can expect perks such as lounge access," Ethiopian Airlines states.
