Over 3,000 Bayern Munich fans are set to travel through Glasgow Airport on Wednesday, February 12, for the UEFA Champions League match against Celtic. Airlines such as Lufthansa and TUI have increased seat availability to accommodate the influx of fans.

Glasgow Airport is experiencing heightened traffic due to the match between Bayern Munich and Celtic at Celtic Park. Both teams will compete in two rounds of play-offs after not qualifying in the top eight. The second leg will take place at Allianz Arena in Munich on Tuesday, February 18. Mark Beveridge, Managing Director Operations at Glasgow Airport, commented on the situation: "Our airline partners saw a huge spike in demand for seats once the draw was confirmed, and we are now looking forward to welcoming the thousands of Bayern fans who will travel through the airport over the coming days. We can then expect to see the Celtic fans travel in numbers for the away fixture next week."

According to Cirium data, there are 15 scheduled flights providing over 2,650 seats from Germany to Glasgow this week. Wednesday sees a significant increase with nearly double the available seats compared to other days. Lufthansa is operating two Airbus A320 flights from Frankfurt and two A321 flights from Munich to Glasgow. Meanwhile, TUI offers one flight with its Boeing 737-800.

Other airlines flying between Germany and Scotland include easyJet and ITA Airways. The busiest route remains Frankfurt-Edinburgh with up to 16 weekly flights.

Bayern Munich's team travels via charter flights organized by FAI Aviation Group under a cooperation agreement until June 30, 2025. The company supports FC Bayern in organizing business flights when needed.

In addition to regular commercial routes, many airlines provide special charters for sports teams they sponsor or hail from their home country.
