Alaska Airlines has announced its decision to cease operations at Dallas Love Field (DAL) this spring. The airline's final flight from DAL to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is scheduled for May 14, marking the end of a presence that began after acquiring Virgin America in 2016.

The decision follows a gradual reduction in flights from Dallas-Love Field over recent years. During the summer of 2023, Alaska Airlines operated 20 weekly flights from the airport to Seattle-Tacoma and San Francisco International Airport. By December 2023, the airline had removed the route to San Francisco, leaving only the connection to Seattle-Tacoma.

Despite maintaining daily flights between Dallas-Love Field and Seattle until January 2026 according to Cirium's Diio Mi airline planning tool, Alaska Airlines' booking engine shows no availability beyond May 14. This move consolidates their operations at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), where they plan 50 weekly departures in May.

Alaska Airlines entered Dallas-Love Field in September 2017 after acquiring Virgin America. The latter had campaigned vigorously for gate assignments at the airport, starting service there in November 2014 with significant fanfare.

In a statement provided to Simple Flying, Alaska Airlines confirmed: "After careful consideration, Alaska Airlines will end service to Dallas Love Field (DAL) later this spring." They added that future operations would be centered at DFW due to its strategic location and connections via codeshare partner American Airlines.

Passengers holding tickets for travel between Seattle and DAL post-May 14 will be accommodated on flights through DFW.
