Candace McGraw, CEO of Cincinnati Airport | Official Website

Delta Air Lines has extended its lease for the aircraft maintenance hangar at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) for another decade. The facility, located at 3318 Lincoln Road in Hebron, will remain under Delta's use until at least 2036. The agreement includes two additional five-year extension options, contingent on mutual consent from both the airport and the airline.

Candace McGraw, the outgoing CEO of Cincinnati Airport, described the lease as a "fabulous deal." This extension ensures that over 70 jobs will be retained at the hangar. The annual lease payment by Delta is set to increase significantly from $300,000 to $1.2 million. Additionally, Delta is committed to installing a new fire suppression system within the hangar.

Delta has operated this maintenance facility since 1988 when Cincinnati served as one of its hub airports. Although no longer a hub, Delta maintains an extensive network from CVG. According to Cirium data, in February alone, Delta offers more than 1,150 flights to various destinations domestically and internationally.

The top destination remains Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), with 175 flights scheduled this month. Other notable routes include New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA), Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW), and Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport (MSP). Internationally, Delta flies from Cincinnati to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CGD) and Cancún International Airport (CUN).

Delta has been adjusting its flight offerings based on demand; last summer saw an increase in flights between Cincinnati and Paris due to heightened interest during the Summer Olympics. Conversely, flights between Cincinnati and Denver were reduced as part of a broader strategy addressing competition from other airlines like United and Southwest.

Meanwhile, DHL is also investing heavily in maintenance facilities at CVG with a new project costing approximately $292 million. This facility will span 305,000 square feet and require an additional workforce of about 300 people once operational.

In November 2024, it was reported that Cincinnati Airport appointed several construction firms for a $575 million modernization project aimed at improving airport infrastructure.
