JetBlue Airways, a major US airline known for its low-cost flights and extensive route network, is operating a fleet of 290 narrowbody aircraft. This includes Airbus A220, A320, A321, and Embraer ERJ-190 models. The ERJ-190 fleet consists of 16 aircraft with an average age of 16 years. These planes are configured with 100 seats in a standard 2-2 layout.

The airline uses its ERJ-190s primarily for short-to-medium routes within the continental United States. Notably, JetBlue operates significant routes from Boston Logan International Airport to destinations such as Washington Reagan National Airport and New York LaGuardia Airport. These routes see numerous round-trip flights each month.

JetBlue's Chief of Finance, Ursula Hurley, discussed the company's financial strategy regarding fleet modernization: "In addition to better economics, we have already realized $70 million to-date in maintenance savings, and we now expect to realize $100 million in maintenance cost savings through the end of this year." The transition from Embraer E190 jets to Airbus A220s is expected to enhance fuel efficiency by up to 25% and increase passenger capacity by nearly 40%.

JetBlue offers free high-speed Wi-Fi on all flights within the continental United States. According to JetBlue: “Only JetBlue offers free, high-speed wi-fi at every seat, on every plane.”

The carrier plans to phase out its Embraer E190 jets in favor of more efficient Airbus A220s as part of its ongoing efforts to reduce costs and improve operational efficiency.
